Our First Few Days of PacRim

Sunday:
We all came together on Sunday for a day of orientation to hear more about what to expect and how to adapt. Following our orientation we spent the night at Prairie Camp in their newest facility. It was quite nice.

Monday:
We headed back to Bethel to be commissioned in Chapel. After that we headed to South Bend airport. Our flight headed out at 1:30 to Detroit. We arrived in Detroit around 3:00pm our flight to Hong Kong was supposed to depart at 3:25. It was delayed a few hours when we got there, but that was good because we probably would have missed our flight if it left on time; However, throughout the day our flight to Hong Kong kept getting delayed later and later. Eventually our plane came in from Atlanta-it was delayed because of de-icing. But our flight ended up being delayed further until 11:00am Tuesday. Most hotels were booked for the night but around 1:00am on Tuesday we finally had plans to stay at a Best Western nearby, but that was only after many hours of Brent's hard work to get us a hotel and taxi vans. It was great to sleep in a bed after sitting in the airport all day.

Tuesday:
Our flight was scheduled to depart at 11:30am. We finally left our gate at 1:00pm and arrived sometime around 6:00pm on Wednesday in Hong Kong.

Wednesday.
Once off the plane. It seemed liked we walked all around the HK airport trying to find our bus to get to our hotel (Pilgrams Hall). And after about maybe an hour of searching....our driver finally found us! We traveled about 40 minutes to Pilgrams Hall where we then ate dinner and took showers. We slept two to a room. It was good sleep.

Thursday:
We had breakfast at 8am and then took a walk around our hotel. We walked a prayer labyrinth that Brent found and each shared verses we felt meaningful. After that I walked around and walked to a 60 foot cross that overlooked some of Hong Kong.

We left Pilgrims Hall around 11am and we are now at the airport waiting to fly to New Zealand. We have a layover in Fiji. Hopefully it will be a great flight and we will get there safe.
