The Great Wall of China

I was not sure what the Great Wall was going to be like. I had a picture in my head and when we arrived it wasn’t really anything like my picture I had imagined. But it was amazing. I loved it so much. I would not mind going back. I loved walking up the steps and seeing the view and lookout out to see the Great Wall in another direction off in the distance. It was a great day for the visit and it was clear and the weather was amazing. There did not seem to be too many people on the wall so that was nice too.
I took the time at the Great Wall to kind of be by myself. I walked at my own pace. It was quiet and peaceful. I took rests along the way and watched people. It was just peaceful, especially to see the mountains next to me and the sky so blue. It was a great experience to be there and walk on a small part of it.
I could hardly imagine how the workers would build it everyday. I was trying to figure out if they actually hiked up the mountain every day to work or if they would camp out along the wall every night. I say they camped along their worksite. I suppose some walked up and down a lot for supplies. It just is unimaginable for me. I kept thinking about that all throughout my walk along the wall.
I found it fascinating how the steps were so different at places. Some were spread out and not too steep others were large and super steep. Those were hard when they were large and steep because they would be like half my leg so I had to use my hands sometimes. But it was still fun. I would do it again.
